Description:

KStreamRipper is a simple frontend to the command line tool streamripper( streamripper.sf.net ). It rips shoutcast( www.shoutcast.com ) streams and splits them up in single mp3 files with file names and ID3 tags based on the information the stream sends.
See the INSTALL file for installation instructions.

If you are a Debian user, you can install KStreamRipper from the official debian mirrors(sid) as well.
If you have created a package of version 0.3.4 for your distribution, please let me know.

Changelog:

hello

just installed streamripper and your nice tool via smart on suse 10.2...worked great! No tons of useless stuff to edit in ??????? menus, just handy, useful and well-working! Using it since half an hour and looking for a bigger mp3-player yet.

Keep up the good work!

greetz joe

why can“t everything be as handy as this?

 ExtendedBuffering ?

by vegan on: Sep 9 2007

I'm not sure some radiostations are doing this on purpose, but I noticed that some of them sort of "cut" their streams sometimes, which makes the buffering stumble, resulting in cut rips - meaning several files for the same song.

Is there a way to include either a more tolerant buffer (able to deal with greater interrupts) or a way to set this manually?

Gary Francione is the Richard Stallman of veganism - better hair though.

 output format

by Woodsman on: Feb 17 2008

I have used streamripper on the command line before with few problems.

I found the kstreamripper front end and
tried it and it worked fine. I soon had
over 100 classical music files. However,
when I looked closely I found that all the files were *.aac files rather than mp3s.
I would like the program to create mp3s.
How do I do this?

I am using PClinuxos 2007 if that matters.

no, streamripper does not currently support transcoding. VLC does.

 network client

by Ruede on: Aug 5 2008

kstreamripper needs network client support, streamripper as well of course.

what am i talking about?

streamripper running as daemon on a server somewhere and kstreamripper as a client somewhere else as control interface that can be closed without the streamripper stopping to copy.

also kstreamripper has to have a traybar icon and the possibility to hide the program there.

thnx

as for the frontend/back end separation - that would be difficult considering how tightly bound the two are. you may be better off with ssh+screen+streamripper
