Description:

KOSD is a simple KDE application that runs in the background and responds to button presses by showing a little OSD. It delegates the job of changing the volume to KMix.

Currently following actions are supported:
- Raise volume
- Lower volume
- Mute/Unmute volume
- Show volume
- Show brightness
- Show battery charge

More actions will be added in future releases.

How to install:
cmake -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=`kde4-config --prefix` .
make
make install (as root)

Run 'kosd' to start. You might want to run 'kosd --configure' the first time to assign actions to your media keys and tweak KOSD to your liking.

Comments, critic, suggestions, donations, etc. are highly welcome. Have fun!

 Internationalization ?

by warnec on: Aug 13 2009

Hi. Are you planning to add i18n support in near future?

And one bug - even though I set volume on 0%, I can still hear a faint sound when playing music/video, so it's not muted.

I tried to change kosd.cpp to see if it would handle hardcoded language change, and it can't display Polish national characters.

http://yfrog.com/18kosdp

If not .po files, you could do it as an author of Root Actions Servicemenu did - treat displayed strings as variables, and change them depending on the language code (pl,zh,de, etc.)

I dunno how to make the Polish signs appear, though.
